Well, here I am finally posting something about writing. I feel like I've very much dwindled from writing in the past year (or has it been 2 years?!?) Sigh. But today I want to discuss some things about writer's "block" (ick. such an icky word.) because I have recently been over at her blog & always get so inspired by her writing posts because I personally (and I'm sure you would too) love her book.
So. My experience with writing has been to escape. Some people write because they just like it or because they want to make a career out of it (although, I do hope I can make a career out of it) and a lot of people write to escape into another world. And I'm not saying I know anything at all because, let's be honest here, I am just a 14 year old girl wishing she could write as well as all those published authors out there. But I do think I know a few itty bitty things :) I have started and given up on about probably 10 ideas in the past 4 or 5 years. I started writing when I was in 2nd grade when I found I really loved writing a report on butterflies (heh. heh.) and since then I have started thinking I should live up to all the wonderful books I've read...and I think that's where my problem is. I read a lot and when I write I judge myself really harshly because I don't think I'm good enough. If you're like me and you've listened to the advice of a lot of published authors, they say when you're young you should just write. And write. And write. No matter how crappy it is. Because along with a lot of other things out there, practice can make you better.
Eek. Here I am getting carried away and I seriously don't have as much time as I thought to write this post. Ok, well, I think I'll just make this PART ONE. :) See you either later today or sometime tomorrow for Part 2!
